Salvation in a Verse

(John 3:16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

For God – Stop and think about it. God, the creator and supreme ruler of the universe, is concerned about you! Our minds struggle to comprehend so great a thought (Psalm 8:4).
so loved the world – The greatest show of emotion this world has ever seen was when God demonstrated His great love to us by sending His Son to die for us (Romans 5:8).
that he gave – God’s gift of salvation in His Son Jesus Christ is a free gift. Man’s efforts can never buy what God offers freely (Ephesians 2:8-9).
his only begotten Son – The only way of salvation is found in God’s Son, Jesus Christ. It is NOT found in any church, denomination, or religious ceremony, but only in Jesus Christ (John 14:6).
that whoever – What a tremendous invitation! God’s salvation is offered to all people — no matter what your nationality, race, religious background, or past life, you can have God’s salvation (Titus 2:11).
believes in him – The key to salvation is committing your life to Jesus Christ by faith. True salvation is found ONLY in trusting your life to Christ (Acts 4:12).
should not perish – The greatest act of mercy is when God withholds from man his justified punishment. This is accomplished only through salvation in Jesus Christ (John 3:36).
but have everlasting life – God in his grace gives us that which we do not deserve – everlasting life (1 John 5:11-13). The greatest possession that a person can have is eternal life (Matthew 16:26).
